How it Works
Three simple steps to reclaim your cloud storage in minutes.
Choose Storage Provider
Choose the cloud storage account you want to analyze such as Google Drive. Select whether to scan your entire library or focus on specific content types such as photos, videos, or documents.
Connect & Scan
Authorize secure read-only access to your selected storage provider. The scanner analyzes file metadata and visual characteristics to identify duplicates, near-duplicates, and redundant copies while minimizing data processing.
Review Results & Reclaim Space
Review intelligently organized groups of duplicate and similar files. Accept recommendations, select the versions you want to keep, and remove unnecessary copies to recover storage space.
See how much you can save
Our engine analyzes metadata and visual characteristics. AI gives keeping suggestions so you can delete duplicate copies, compressed variants, and similar screenshots with complete confidence.
Built for Speed, Accuracy, and Trust
Recover storage with confidence using intelligent duplicate detection and privacy-first design.
Find More Than Exact Duplicates
Advanced AI analyzes file metadata and visual characteristics to identify duplicate copies, compressed variants, screenshots, and near-duplicate images that traditional scanners miss.
Know What to Keep
Every duplicate group includes clear explanations and confidence-based recommendations, helping you quickly decide which versions to retain and which can be safely removed.
Your Data Stays Under Your Control
Scans run in secure, temporary sessions. Files are never permanently stored, and scan data can be deleted immediately whenever you choose.
Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We've got answers.
Is my cloud storage data secure?
Yes. The application operates using secure, read-only authentication (OAuth) directly with your storage provider. We only read file metadata (names, sizes, visual characteristics) inside your temporary browser session and never store your files or credentials on our servers.
What kinds of duplicate files does the scanner find?
Our scanner detects exact byte-for-byte duplicates (files with matching content hashes), near-duplicates (like compressed copies or resized versions of photos), screenshots, and redundant versions of documents that standard scanning tools miss.
Do you access the contents of my files?
Storage Optimizer is designed so that file contents are not accessed, uploaded, or processed. Duplicate detection and recommendations are generated using metadata only.
Does the app automatically delete files?
No. We never delete anything without your explicit action. The scanner groups duplicates and recommends the best versions to keep, but you review and check the files you wish to remove before clicking to optimize and move files safely to your drive's trash folder.
What if I find moving duplicate files automatically to the service provider's trash folder risky?
If you prefer not to automate the cleanup process via the "Optimize Staged Files" action, you can download the PDF Executive Summary Report. This detailed report lists all identified duplicate groups, paths, and AI recommendations, providing a safe blueprint for you to review and clean up your files manually at your own pace.
What are the limits of the free scan?
The free scanner allows you to scan your account and review initial sets of duplicates. Unlock unlimited duplicate resolution groups, advanced AI explanations, and export your executive PDF summary report with a one-time purchase—no subscription required.
How is the upgrade fee calculated, and is my payment secure?
The upgrade fee is dynamically calculated based on the volume of data scanned, measured in bytes. This ensures that smaller, more targeted scans (such as individual folders) incur lower fees. All payments are securely processed through Stripe to ensure a safe and reliable transaction experience.
How does the AI recommend which copy is best to keep?
The AI recommendations engine evaluates variables such as file quality (image resolution/bitrate), creation or capture dates, folder hierarchy depth, and filename descriptive quality. It prioritizes keeping original or high-resolution copies over compressed or duplicate versions.
How can I make sure all my login and scan data is completely removed after I am done?
Click Disconnect & Close in the top menu to disconnect and remove all associated login connections, scan history, and stored payment information. Closing your browser tab will also end your current session, and any temporary cached browser data will be cleared if you attempt to sign in again.
Do you use my data to train your AI models?
Our AI does not train its models on data sent through our API. Storage Optimizer does not use customer data to train proprietary AI models.
Which cloud storage providers are supported?
StorageOptimizer currently supports Google Drive, Google Photos, and Dropbox. Additional cloud storage providers are added regularly. If your provider is not yet supported, contact us to request it.
How long does a scan take?
Most scans are completed in under a minute. The duration depends on the number of files in your cloud storage account. To speed up analysis on accounts larger than 50GB, you can specify a target folder name to restrict the scan. Enabling Deep AI Recommendations for all duplicate groups may also increase scan duration compared to standard analysis.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Storage Optimizer is a completely web-based application. Everything runs directly inside your web browser, meaning there are no downloads, desktop clients, or browser extensions to install.
